JPG’s has been transformed into the most unique, stylish, relaxing and delicious restaurant in the Skaneateles area. Jamie and Kristin Hunt have taken the automotive industry and joined it with the hospitality industry. Pasta may be in our name but we’re clearly “More Than Just Pasta!”

Let's go back a bit first!

Before we get into the present let’s talk about the past.

This building was constructed in the 1820’s as a carriage and sleigh manufacturing shop. The 1850’s brought about a blacksmith and horseshoe shop and it remained that until the early 1920’s, when it became the site of a wooden box builder. The 1930’s brought it back to the home of a horseshoe repair and a boat construction business. In 1948, the legendary Paul Trabold began his 50 plus years here with his auto repair shop; many of our customers remember driving their cars into what is now our dining room.

Who are we now?

Let’s start with Jamie Hunt, co-owner of JPG’s. Jamie started his career in the restaurant business at the age of 18. He was hired as a dishwasher by another local restaurant (Rosalie’s if you must know). It was through that position, and his initiative that he quickly made his way into the kitchen. He was given an opportunity to work on the line and his love for the culinary arts grew; eventually leading him to the
Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park
. After Jamie graduated from the CIA in 1999, he did an externship in Vermont and then worked at Christies on the Lake. Before long Jamie found his way back to Rosalie’s and then The Lodge at Welch Allyn. He was hired as the chef here at JPG’s at its opening and has been creating the delicious food JPG’s is known for.

Another someone to know is the other co-owner, Kristin Hunt (formerly Binsack). Kristin, on the other hand, had virtually no experience in the restaurant industry. She is a graduate of Nazareth College of Rochester with a B.A. in Psychology (which comes in handy…) Her career began at the Sutherland Group in Syracuse. After a few years with them, Kristin made the move to the Skaneateles School District. When Jamie and Kristin decided to buy the restaurant it was not long before they discovered that Kristin was unable to keep the pace of two full time jobs, so it was the restaurant life they chose. Keeping in mind of course, that the extent of her exposure to the wonderful world of restaurants took place as a waitress in college, but Jamie reassures her that she has survived her first two years of boot camp. You can find Kristin manning the front at night and keeping the business running by day.

The last person to familiarize yourself with is Ethan; who the staff refer to as the “real boss.” Just about the same time that Jamie and Kristin bought JPG’s they were fortunate enough to find out that they were going to be parents. On August 28, 2005 Ethan Anthony Hunt was welcomed into the world. Now a year later he’s really becoming quite fond of the restaurant life. Ethan is a gracious host, you can find him throughout the week, greeting people as they come in; but hold on to your bread knots because as soon as he sees the basket on the table, all bets are off.

Also, this is Dazz. He’s the black lab tied up around here and he’s pretty convinced that everyone who comes to 28 Jordan Street is here to see him!
